Paris-Dakar Rally (2001) Screenshots: Original PC & PS2 Gallery

Five original Paris-Dakar Rally promotional screenshots for PC and PlayStation 2, restored with archive sources, platform labels and scene descriptions.

By Dakar Rally Game editorial team · Published

An independent historical resource about the 2001 game. This site is not operated by Acclaim or Broadsword and does not provide their original customer support.

Original promotional screenshots, preserved at 512 × 384

These five images were recovered from the original dakar-rally-game.com image addresses through the Internet Archive. They are promotional screenshots of Paris-Dakar Rally (2001), not captures from Dakar 18 or Dakar Desert Rally and not newly recorded gameplay.

The platform labels follow the original site's PC/PlayStation 2 sections and image filenames. The dates identify the archived image captures, not the dates on which the screenshots were taken. Each restored file retains its original 512 × 384 pixels; no AI upscaling or replacement imagery has been used.

What survives from the old gallery

The original gallery page, captured on 2 August 2001, separated PC and PlayStation 2 thumbnails and opened larger views in individual pages. This is a curated restoration of five surviving files, not a claim that the complete gallery has been recovered.

The screenshots are useful for identifying the original game's vehicles, scenery and presentation. They should not be used to compare PC and PS2 performance: the scenes are different, and a promotional still does not establish frame rate, resolution settings or final retail behaviour.

PC · archive capture 12 October 2003

The archived 2001 page ss_pc_2.html referenced this image, despite the different number in its filename. The surviving image capture is from October 2003. It shows the vehicle approaching along an open grassland track.

Quad rider facing the camera with two rally vehicles behind on a sandy track

PlayStation 2 · archive capture 23 June 2001

A quad rider appears in front of two rally vehicles on a sandy course. It records the vehicle imagery used to promote the original title, rather than a test of the final game's full roster.
