Dakar Desert Rally Steering Wheel Setup and Calibration

Use the game's calibration wizard first
Dakar Desert Rally includes a steering wheel calibration workflow. Saber's Steering Wheel Wizard instructions direct players to Options, Controls and Device Configuration, then to Device Calibration once the device is detected. Follow that sequence before trying to correct handling with force-feedback changes.
Connect the wheel and pedals according to their manufacturer's instructions, complete any required startup calibration and launch the game. If the device is absent from the configuration screen, treat that as a detection problem. A sensitivity slider cannot fix a wheel the game is not receiving input from. Confirm the exact wheel model and platform when checking compatibility information.
Check each axis independently
During calibration, turn left and right slowly and return to center. Then press and release the accelerator and brake separately. Look for a smooth change across the available range and confirm that a released pedal registers as released. An inverted axis or a pedal that never reaches its endpoint can make an otherwise reasonable setup feel broken.
For the first driving test, avoid using several input devices at once. A spare controller resting against an object can send steering input, while a second pedal device may introduce a duplicate binding. Remove those variables and record your starting settings before experimenting. Reconnect optional equipment one item at a time after the basic setup works.
Separate calibration from driving preference
Calibration defines whether the game reads the controls correctly. Driving preference covers how that input feels. Test the former on a straight, low-speed section: the vehicle should respond in the expected direction and stop accelerating when you release the pedal. Only then compare steering response or available feedback settings.
Use a short loop with one broad corner and one slower turn. If you repeatedly overcorrect, reduce the size of your movements and review steering response. If the wheel feels heavy but the car follows the expected line, investigate feedback strength separately. Changing steering and feedback together can hide which adjustment was helpful.
Save a baseline you can reproduce
Write down the wheel model, platform, rotation setting and the in-game options you changed. Keep a photograph or screenshot of the final configuration. After an update or device change, this record gives you a useful comparison instead of forcing another round of random adjustments.
